Canna is an island southwest of Skye, with a population of about five hundred people, although this is often changed by the amount of gallowglasses and the crews of ships that arrive on the island, which is a centre of communications and providing easy access to Islay, Skye, and the Outer Hebrides.

Canna is also home to a fortification, named Coroghan Castle, built on top of a sea stack, on the eastern side of the island. Dun Canna is a smaller, older fortification that is still in use.
