Eilean Ruairidh Mòr

Eilean Ruairidh Mòr is a fortified island with a dun and village constructed by the Norse in approximately 1000AD, in Loch Maree. The nearby Isle Maree has a church and holy well on it, as well as ancient druidic stands of oak and holly, and is a sacred site for both pagans and Catholics.

The island is home to about fifty people.
