The Saami are a nomadic people from the north of Norway and Sweden, whose service in Norse armies as axemen has brought some of their number to the Western Isles. Although their art may be seen in some of their (Gaelic) clothing, their language is no longer heard here, and many of them do not try to preserve the traditional Saami culture.
