Irish Gaels
The Irish Gaels are the Gaels that stayed in Ireland, where we have been for thousands of years (exactly
how many years is dispusted - most solid evidence points to the Gaels leaving Iberia for Ireland, but whether this was
one thousand five hundred or five thousand years before the Lordship of the Isles was born is unknown), instead of
crossing the North Channel to settle in Alba.
Communities exist in the southern areas of the Lordship of the Isles, where they speak both their native language
and the dialects of Highland Gaelic (Tiree, Islay, etc.) that have a distinctly
Irish feel. They are often found wearing their own clothing, similar to Highland Gaelic but looser and more vibrantly-coloured
with brighter yellows and deeper greens, and often an absense of the red that you may see important figures wearing. Some
do not bother with brogans, preferring to go barefoot, although this is only in the areas where Irish culture is dominant,
which, although the Irish population overall is fairly large in number, are few and far between.
The Irish still practice traditional sports, some of which have became popular in other communities (such as Gaelic football), and stick martial arts.
